Bienvenidos!

Well family and friends, it looks like I'm back on the blogging scene. In exactly four weeks I will fly into Cuzco, Peru, for a month-long volunteering adventure! This blog will again serve as a portal into my daily adventures - large and small - as I embark on a journey teaching English in this vibrant and culturally rich city nestled in the Andes.

The idea for this particular adventure took life from Josh's humanitarian aspirations fused with my avid wanderlust. He mused about wanting to make a difference in the world, and it doesn't take much to ignite my travel itch. The trip quickly materialized as we sought volunteer programs to encompass both of our interests. I took a liking to teaching English through my experience as an au pair, and Josh wanted to find a program involving construction and renovation. Combining our metiers with an exciting new travel experience, we agreed on this Cuzco-based program through the International Volunteer Headquarters (IVHQ). We're all paid up, tickets are locked in, and we're mostly immunized! (Another Hep A and B shot, plus anti-malaria tablets still to go.)

As this is just an introduction, I'll keep things brief (shocking, I know), but stay tuned for plenty of updates and, eventually, photos of our Andean adventures!
